Moscow Metro: 88 years of art and station evolution

On May 15th, the Moscow Metro turned 88 years old. Its stations serve not only as unique technical and architectural structures, but also as works of decorative and applied art.

In honor of the Moscow Metro’s birthday, we present you with excerpts from the project “Retroscope of the Moscow Metro”, which show how the appearance of its stations has changed over time. Panoramic photos were created using archival shots from the A.V. Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, original graphics, and contemporary shooting.

The authors of this project are the architectural bureau “NRDN”.
